I am a simple woman with interests in many things. I wear many hats including follower of Jesus, mom, full time employee, entrepreneur, daughter, sister and wife. I started my first business two years ago, have learned many things along the way and feel that I can share valuable insight not only as someone who has been down this path but also as someone who has traveled many roads. Being thirty-something and involved in the many life experiences with it’s share of ups and downs, I feel that I can provide tips, encouragement and just share my thoughts on current events that others may find interesting.
I am an analyst by trade and being someone who thinks analytically, I agonize over every little detail. I’ve been considering starting this blog for nearly a year now and have tried to decide if I really have something worth sharing. I believe I do but I also don’t want to lose myself in the process. I don’t want to be cliché and give you the run of the mill content. I want to keep you engaged, start conversations and have a laugh or two.
What I’m passionate about
This is too hard to narrow down to just a few things. I’m an introvert by nature so small talk isn’t my thing. I like to have real conversations, not just chit chat about things that don’t really matter. I enjoy writing and am a prolific reader. My favorite genre is high fantasy like classic Tolkien but love a good sci-fi novel or historical fiction read. The Bible is my favorite book of all time and I read it daily and all the way through yearly.
Music is something I love and listen to such a varied list of genres it’ll make your head spin. From classic rock to Texas country, Christian R&B to heavy metal, reggae to old school rap, you never know what is going to pop up on my play list. I have no actual musical talent although you’ll catch me singing at the top of my lungs (badly) driving down the road listening to Led Zeppelin (the greatest band of all time).
I love sports, specifically Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and college football. I’m a die hard Longhorns fan and while the last few seasons have been pretty brutal, you won’t find me abandoning my Horns. It gets interesting during game time because we also have a Texas Tech, A&M and LSU fans in my family. We do a lot of trash talking. I watch quite a bit of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Bellator fights and am old enough to have been a Pride and Strikeforce fan, even dabbling a bit in the K1 fighting arena in Japan as a viewer. I don’t really have as much time to follow it as I once did but still get to go out occasionally and catch the big fights with my friends. I’ve actually made a fair share of friends watching fights because guys are typically really surprised to find a chick who knows anything about fighting.
Which brings me to my next point…I am not a girly girl. I grew up as your classic tomboy, always getting dirty, refusing to wear dresses and basically driving my parents crazy. I love to hunt (both archery and rifle) and fish, be outdoors, and do anything that gets the wind in my hair and the sun on my skin. We love visiting the beach as a family although I’m not as fond of camping as I was when I was a kid (when my parents did all the work). I’d rather work and run around with guys because frankly, women perplex me. I don’t get passive aggressive or emotional and tears freak me out. If a guy is mad at you, he’ll just tell you.
I’m interested in politics but I’m not a one party person. If I had to identify with one group over any other, it would absolutely be Libertarian. I believe in small government, peace, tolerance, self-ownership, free markets and individualism. I haven’t met or spoken with a politician yet who I truly feel cares more about people than they do about power. Criminal justice is an area of special interest to me just because of some family issues I’ve had to deal with regarding that particular arena. Inconsistency among parties and people frustrate me to no end and apathy is killing this country.
What is most important to me?
To tell you the truth, the most important thing to me is being a reflection of Christ and this is something I fail at daily. Thank God for his merciful grace and love. I’m going to be real with you – I curse like a sailor (yes I’m trying to do better), occasionally have a bit too much to drink, think marijuana should be legal (although I don’t advocate breaking the current laws) and people should generally be allowed to do whatever it is they choose to do with their lives. My goal each day is to show someone that even though I am a very flawed individual, Christ’s love and mercy is truly transformative. I want to love people the way Jesus loves me.
Life is too short to not jump off and follow your dreams. Perhaps this venture won’t amount to much and that is okay too. So to answer the question, who am I? I’m Lacie and it’s very nice to meet you. Welcome to my site.
Stay salty, friends,
